Keishi tile pearls with sea shell clasp hand knotted necklace.
A one of a kind traditionally hand knotted on silk pearl necklace.
Hand knotting gives a necklace a supple comfortable feel that makes it a pleasure to wear. The silk knots between each pearl keep the strand from being stiff, unlike wire stringing which gives pearls an unyielding awkward feel.
These beautiful freshwater cultured pearls are of a unique style. They could be called "keishi", a term which is loosely applied to pearls nowadays. I think "Baroque tile pearls" most accurately describes them.
Their color is excellent. A gleaming white with brilliant blue, green, and pink iridescence. The nacre of these pearls is outstanding. (That is the outside layer of the pearl which makes it desirable.)
They are graduated with the largest - 31mm (3/4") in the center, to the smallest - 17mm (5/8") at the ends. The necklace is adjustable from 16" to 17 1/2". I am happy to add a bit more length to the sterling silver chain - let me know at time of purchase.
The clasp is a lovely Bali silver clasp in the shape of a shell.
