Clearance- Amethyst, Tanzanite, Moonstone, Citrine, Peridot Briolette Necklace
I recently read that the cutting method for briolette was invented sometime around the 12th century in India. Indian craftsmen learned how to facet gems in such a way that they could be strung or wired like a pendant and seen on all sides, instead of the old way of setting a stone in metal so that only one side could be seen. I send a heartfelt thank you to those artists of long ago.
The center of this lovely necklace is a flawless cushion cut amethyst f over 8 carats. The dimensions of the stone are 15mm x 15mm (over 1/2". It is a sparkling violet in color. Flanking the center amethyst are briolettes of citrine, moonstone, tanzanite, amethyst, and peridot. These briolettes range in size from 10mm (1/3") to 5mm. They are different cuts from teardrop to onion. The tanzanite gems have a brilliant blue violet color that is reflected in the blue flash moonstone. Accent notes of warm grass green are provided by the peridot. I used a selection of some of my best stones in this piece.
The necklace is finished out with a strand of amethyst, moonstone, and peridot roundels. It is adjustable from 15 1/2" t 18 1/2" with sterling silver chain and sturdy lobster clasp. All metal is sterling silver. I am happy to add a little to the length of the chain, just let me know at time of purchase.
