Rhyolite hand knotted on silk with a lovely vintage style pearl clasp. Rhyolite is a little known gemstone, new to jewelry. For years rhyolite stone has been used as decoration in architectural projects. New deposits of gemstone quality rhyolite are now being mined for jewelry use. This lovely stone makes beautiful beads for necklaces, earrings, etc.
Pretty 10mm (1/3") faceted rhyolite beads are hand knotted on silk cord (by me!)and connected to a darling silvertone metal clasp with a bezel set freshwater white cultured pearl. The necklace is 18-1/2" in length (standard length for a necklace).
These beads are lovely, gem quality rhyolite such as this exhibits passages of translucency, pale salmon blush pinks, and a deep copper brown matrix pattern with bits of cream. The colors are muted shades of cream, pink, gray green, deep forest greens, and copper brown.
Ryolite occurs all over the world, but gem quality rhyolite is mostly from Australia and the United States.
