Lovely Enameled Catholic Our Lady Of Lourdes Religious Medal

This beautiful medal is part of an estate collection of religious charms and medals. It is a stunning devotional with fantastic enameling and detailed imagery. I have found two markings embedded into the bail but I can't make them out.I believe them to be of silver content or origins.

The front of this collectible medal bears the image of our Blessed Mother in profile. It's shape is almost a free form octagon. The reverse shows The Grotto of Lourdes with Bernadette kneeling before the Virgin Mary. The Blessed Virgin is standing above her in a small cave holding a rosary. Both images appear with their heads bowed in prayer.

This medal pertains to Bernadette's 17 visions and is the most beloved of the Marian apparitions. This beautiful devotional is in good condition with slight wear and an aged patina. It measures 7/8'' in diameter and retains it's original jump ring. It is truly a wonderful old piece.
