This beautiful Limoges Charger has been part of my collection for over 10 years. It is signed by noted artist, M.W. Poole of the Poole Studios in the Chicago area between 1915-1917. Poole was a contemporary of Pickard, Brauer, Stouffer and Yeschek and painted some very beautiful pieces. This beauty is no exception - with the stunning, large and many petaled Roses covering almost the whole surface of this handsome mold. The artist has painted the Roses in shades of red, yellow and pink and shown them surrounded by their vivid leaves, some branches and unopened buds. I have always thought this Charger to be a bit out of the ordinary due to the coloration and the beauty of the Roses. The scalloped rim is trimmed in Gold.
The Charger measures 12 5/8" in diameter and it is heavy.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines. Some rubbing to the gold around the edge which doesn't detract at all.
It is marked with Limoges mark 6. 1915-1917.
