This is a very lovely European Ewer that is signed by the artist and dated. I believe the signature might be E. Rhoads and dated '05. The artist has painted a very beautiful scene of tall mountains, a serene lake and pine trees surrounding the lake. The painting is quite detailed and also shows large boulders in the foreground and the trees reflecting into the icy lake. The scene covers the front of the Ewer and the background is a soft blue. The upper neck and lower base is painted in MOther of Pearl. The fabulous Rococo, ornate handle, upper rim and inside the rim and base are painted in luscious gold. I have a few of these molds - they are just fabulous; graceful and appealing. None of them are marked; however, the porcelain is light and fine and the mold is so graceful, it could certainly be Limoges or Austrian porcelain. This beauty has been a part of my collection for some time. It is wonderful.
The Ewer stands 10" tall.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines. It is a wonderful old piece of history. There is less purple in the mountains than shown.
Probably Limoges or Austrian. 1905.
