An antique silver plate glove box that features a floral knob on the lid. We see that the lid is also decorated with incised foliate decoration. The case shows an ornate scenic floral repousse decoration. This has a satin lined pillowed interior. This is a classic Art Nouveau style and perfect for the boudoir.
The hallmark on the bottom tells us that this was manufactured by James Tufts of Boston. It also helps us date this to the late 19th Century, c. 1890s.
Measurements: 4 1/2 inches high, 11 1/4 inches long, and 3 1/2 inches deep. We see some wear to the lining which is to be expected for the age of the piece. Slight patina to the in depth pattern on the exterior and some scratching to the bottom. All in all, for the age, we would give this an 8 out of 10 for condition. A fabulous, hard to find item.
