An antique glass compote featuring a high standard and a jeweled motif. The bowl has a square shape with a pointed rim. The pedestal has a complimentary decoration and the base has a ribbed pattern. The pointed pattern makes the glass seem like it is flowing.
Manufactured by O'Hara Glass this is their Crown Jewel pattern also known as Chandelier. It dates to c. 1888 which, during that time period, was called a fruit bowl.
Measuring 9 inches square for the bowl and an overall height of 7 inches this is indeed a stately and elegant piece of antique glass. It is in excellent condition without any damage which is unusual for this particular pattern because of the many points. We see a straw mark in the center of the bowl as well as some bubbles trapped in the glass. This is all from the manufacturing process.
