An antique porcelain heart shaped vanity box featuring hand painted white lilies on the lid against a deep burgundy background. The rim of the lid has heavily applied gold trim that surrounds the flowers. The bottom of the box is decorated with matching burgundy and the interior is white. Both pieces are finished with a glossy glaze.
The hallmark is the green Tressemann & Vogt (T&V) Limoges, France mark which tells us that this was manufactured between 1892 - 1907. The hand painting we believe is from a hobby painter of that time period.
The widest measure is 3.75" with the depth being 1.5" deep and we find just a slight amount of age related wear but there is no damage to porcelain. Please reference our pictures for more detail.
The white lily symbolizes chastity and virtue. Lilies are known to be the May birth flower, and the 30th wedding anniversary flower. This highly collectible, one-of-a-kind item would make a lovely gift!
