Antique porcelain portrait urn Grecian 19th century Rosenthal
An antique porcelain urn vase featuring the portrait scene of a young woman studying a flower in a garden setting. She is clothed in the Grecian Style with flowing robes, bare shoulder and up swept hair. Surrounding this scene we see a background of forest green with hand painted flowers and waterfall. The base is a pale yellow to compliment our lady's gown. This style of decorating was called mixtion where the artist would enhance a transfer print with hand painting.

The mold design is a Grecian urn with large upright handles and a bulbous body that graduates down to the pedestal base. The mark on this special vase is from the Rosenthal Factory and dates this to the late 1800's - 1900.
It stands 8" tall and would look lovely on a mantle or filled with flowers. There is no damage; a real treasure! Alas, this should probably have a matching cover but it came to us as is and we feel this is still an exemplary piece of early Rosenthal. We have priced accordingly.
