Antique Christening Gown 19th Century Linen Lace Superb Free Shipping

This 19th century fine linen and lace christening gown is one of the finest we have ever seen. The workmanship is exquisite and complex with a fine bodice featuring superb lace and rucking. The lace trims the neckline and base of the bodice. The long front panel is accented with exquisite leaf design and openwork lace. The sleeves have matching floral lace to the bodice accented with tiny leaves and openwork embroidery. The base of the dress features a row of 17 fine pleats, a row of lace, a row of fine rucking, another row of lace and finished with a scalloped lace of openwork flowers and leaves. The gown measures 40 inches in length on the front, 42 inches on the back, approx 8.25" wide from shoulder joining to shoulder joining, sleeves approx. 7 inches long.

The condition is very fine for age. It has one tie sash missing. One of the tiny mother of pearl buttons is missing on the back. It has one small tear in the back that needs repair as pictured. It has approx. 10 very small age/storage discolorations and 2-3 larger but still small discolorations that need careful removal. (as pictured) It is amazingly intact for its Circa 1880-1890 age.(rl-15)
