We can not find anything on this wonderful artist, if you can help translate the Japanese characters we would really appreciate it. Often the characters were added to give a title or a story. This watercolor, along with the other 2 offered, came from a banker's estate. In excellent condition, the photos will let you see both the beauty and subtlety of this lovely artwork. It is unusual for watercolor paintings to be on canvas, the effect so full and soft, really stunning.
The Japanese watercolor is in its original vintage Retro Frame, Circa 1960-70s. Measurements for the canvas: 9" by 12"; for the frame: 16.25" by 19.25". It is signed in the lower right hand corner "La `One" with Japanese characters vertically placed down the left hand quadrant. The condition is original and very fine. The shadow molded frame has some flashy silver gilt work (a Mexican frame) that is a bit gaudy then rough brushed to give an `antique' affect. It is period with the watercolor on canvas.
