1901 Z.J. Pequignot Hunter 0S Pocket Watch - 14K Solid Gold Working Antique

Maker: Z.J. Pequignot Jewels: Unknown Running Condition: Running Strong Sets: Yes, Lever Monogrammed: Yes, "MAL" Year: Early 1900's Weight: 32.4 Measurements: 1 7/8" (47.5mm) total height from the base to the top of the extended bail, 1 11/32" (34mm) in diameter and 13/32" (10.2mm) thick

This antique watch has blue Arabic numerals printed on an off white face with Z.J. Pequignot written above the center of the dial and beautiful gold hands. There is a sunk seconds register at the base with blue Arabic numbers. This watch was probably a "contract watch" of the late 1800's or early 1900's. Z.J. Pequignot was a jeweler in Philadelphia who opened shop in 1854 and died in 1909. The inscription on the dust cover says Mary A Lyons from Father Dec 18th 1901. This watch then dates to the early 1900's or the late 1800's depending on whether the movement was recased, which it doesn't appear to have been. The crystal and dial plate are both in good condition with no cracks or chips. The inside of the back case is stamped warranted 14k U.S. Assay B.W.C. Co. 6000920. The movement is stamped what appears to be F.Y. Pequignot, Philadelphia Swiss 1093145. This watch appears to have been made by a Swiss watch maker and order by Mr. Pequignot who put a dial plate on it and cased it in a case he had made. The front cover has an angled vine looking design with a shield in the middle monogrammed MAL. The back has this same design without a shield. This piece is running well and keeping time on my bench, but is not guaranteed.
