This offering is for a vintage, circa 1940's, solid sterling nielloware compact that has etched figures on both sides. It is in EXCELLENT condition. The single figure depicts the God Rama, with his bow. Siam traditional dancers are etched on the other side--the top of the compact. The condition is nearly pristine. The top and base show extremely minimal surface wear, seen when tilted to the side with a magnifying glass. The latch is perfect. The interior has a lid over the powder well in exceptional condition. It closes with a well functioning clasp. The mirror is in excellent condition, as is the powder well. The compact has a scalloped border. This is an exquisite example of the art of nielloware produced in Siam in the 30's and 40's. It has figures on both sides, a very unique shape and in fabulous condition. The weight is a full 81 grams, with a diameter of 2 7/8". This compact will be a welcomed addition for a collection. Please contact me with any questions you may have.
