Shimmering! Circa 1880, Electric Blue Cut to Clear Overlay, Mercury Glass Perfume / Scent Bottle with Sterling Silver, Repousse, Hinged Lid

A continuous pattern of brilliant, oval shaped windows accent this gorgeous, cylindrical shaped bottle. The overlay is outstanding. The overlay is in excellent condition. This wonderful, upright, faceted form, cylindrical shaped, mercury glass bottle gently tapers toward its base. The vibrant blue color is dazzling! When you hold this bottle up to the light, it is glorious! This bottle is top quality! There are no fractures to the body of this brilliant bottle. The neck of this lovely bottle is intact. An ornately engraved, sterling silver, hinged lid tops this marvelous bottle. Spectacular leaves and flowers accent the lid. The repousse work is magnificent. The sterling silver lid has one pinprick and a bit of wear to the silver. In the photographs, the cap/lid is a bit ajar. The cap does snap shut SECURELY! The cap / lid pops open easily and snaps shut securely. The hinge is original and it is in perfect working condition. This magnificent perfume bottle retains its original, clear glass, internal stopper. The collar is in good condition with no splits or tears. This bottle is unmarked – I could not find any marks on the bottle or on the beautifully engraved mounts. However, your eyes might be better than my eyes. The black and white spots that you see in the photographs are dust. In the photographs everything is MAGNIFIED. The spots are NOT damage - just dust! There are a few minor black spots from the mercury. These mercury spots can be seen in the photographs. This well-made, exceptional piece is sensational in every detail. This delightful perfume bottle cannot be appreciated from the photographs. The photos do not do this SPECTACULAR piece justice. It was hard to capture the true dimension and depth of the brilliant, electric blue color and crisp cutting. The workmanship on this piece is outstanding! This perfume bottle is top quality! This magnificent bottle is much more beautiful in real life. This perfume bottle is a showstopper! It would look fantastic standing alone or in a collection! This bottle would be a great display piece! This delightful perfume bottle has not been cleaned for many years - thus the dust. I apologize! I will leave the cleaning to the proud new owner. This treasure has been in my vitrine for many years - now it can be yours. This amazing bottle is ready to go - just decant your favorite perfume and enjoy! This extraordinary scent bottle would add a glamorous touch to any room. There is a pinprick to the lid, a few black spots from the mercury and a few TINY scratches on the bottle. The minor scratches and the black spots from the mercury are normal for this type of glass - the detailed artistry far outweighs the tiny bit of damage on this glorious perfume bottle!
