Super! American, Circa 1929, "Toujours Gai" by Armand Duval, Mini, Commercial Perfume Bottle
Armand Duval was based in New York, NY, circa 1929. "Toujours Gai" is translated literally: still gay. After doing a bit of research I did find a listing for this perfumer but I could not find anything on this particular scent. This sensational perfume bottle set was purchased directly from the estate of the original manufacturer. The labels and the bottles are similar to others retailed at the same time period. They all probably came from the same manufacturing plant. The manufacturer would then paste on the bottles each retailers individual labels. This distinctive, rectangular shaped, clear glass perfume bottle is molded in classic Art Deco style. This marvelous, Art Deco inspired bottle is molded with crisp lines and horizontal ribbing. The side view of this bottle is dazzling! The ingenious way this bottle was created adds wonderful dimension and depth to this spectacular bottle! This simple but elegant perfume bottle is designed with clean lines and is in perfect condition. The front of this eye-catching, rectangular shaped, clear glass bottle is designed with white colored paint/enameling. All of the lettering is in mint condition! Painted on the front of this fantastic bottle: Toujours Gai. The original, ball shaped, gold tone, metal screw cap is in excellent condition. Forty percent of the original perfume remains in the bottle and the scent is absolutely divine! These Art Deco inspired bottles were not meant to be thrown away when they were empty. These luxurious bottles were meant to be displayed on a vanity table. The original, oval shaped, paper label is still affixed to the back of this lovely bottle. Printed on the paper label in black colored lettering: Armand Duval, N.Y. * 1/4 OZ. * S.D.A. CT. 466. The label is in MINT condition with no damages or lifting. This unusual perfume bottle measures approximately 2 inches in height. Please check out the many other items I have listed by this manufacturer.
