A magnificent Georgian period antique Amethyst color or Purple paste & clear paste shoe buckle. c 1760's. Extra large size at 3-1/2" across by 2-5/8" high. Beautiful in every detail. Buckles of this type are usually European in origin, and most likely French. Also, this was probably 1 of a pair. It was not uncommon to split the pair when divesting the estate of the owner.
Set to perfection clear paste. This is then surrounded by tear drop Purple paste....the shade is heavenly. They are prong set.
The sealed metal is silver. This has been in our personal collection for years...we are delighted to offer this rare piece.
The condition is excellent. Our images are very clear and show the beauty of this piece.
Size: 3-1/2" x 2-5/8"
This is truly an amazing piece of Georgian Jewelry...these shoe buckles are repurposed in so many ways as a fashion accessory for today.
