Vintage Japanese tea set or service, Kutani. A total of 17 pieces. I believe this was a curio shop or tourist item in the early 20th century. Japanese travel was quite exotic then, and travelers would love bringing home mementos from their visit.
Created with egg shell porcelain, monogrammed with a B & M. Hand painted decoration of a landscape. decoration of warriors in landscape settings. Consisting of a pear-shaped teapot, sugar bowl, and a creamer. The lids decorated with the classic fruit or flower...looks like a Kiwi. 6 dessert plates, and 4 cups with saucers.
CONDITION: Sold as found. In very good condition. 2 saucers have a tiny chips to the underside, a tiny nick or chip on inside brim of creamer, and 2 tiny dings to inside of creamer lid. This sounds like a lot, but these are so small that the set presents perfectly.
Teapot: 8-1/4" high, creamer is 5-1/2" high, sugar 6-1/2", plate is 7-1/4" diameter
