Vintage 1950s Silk Strapless Evening Gown *Couture Quality *Sm

The gown is created with the ivory silk faille. This silk is interfaced with silk organdy to give it body. The bodice can be worn strapless or with straps. There is a rich deep turquoise silk satin cumberbun with a bow that snaps in the back.

Bodice is boned in 7 places with ribbon covered boning (couture detail), lined in silk, hand cast seams. The bust is defined with deep darts that are tucks more than sewn darts...always a sign of fine crafting. There is a silk ribbon petersham at waist.

The bodice has a long hand set zipper that zips and disappears into the skirt (and loosely beyond).

The waist area is also hand sewn under the bodice, and at the top of skirt with a flat 3 inch high inset of silk faille. This is a beautiful detail that keeps the area below the bust to the waist free of bulk and lets your small waistline show.

The skirt has 4 layers of tulle or net, and an underskirt of silk that is also lined with net. It is bell shape created with many gores. There is a very fine zipper that is hand set and zips the skirt up over the layers of petticoats...this goes over the long zipper from the bodice, and stops at the waist. A remarkable detail.

CONDITION: Overall very good condition. There is a very subtle age spot area on skirt front. I did not notice this until photographing the dress. It does not show very much. I believe a qualified cleaner could take care of this. There are subtle discoloration on the INSIDE of the bodice right near underarm. THERE IS NO OUTSIDE UNDERARM STAINS. Soiling to hemline. Also there are 3 pin point size black marks...again probably something that can easily be removed.
