Antique Wood Son Blue Transferware Keswick Covered Tureen Platter Relish Dish

Bearing the early 1891 to 1907 mark, this Wood and Son covered tureen, platter and relish dish set is done in their lovely Keswick pattern. The color is a pretty dusty wedgewood blue, not the flow blue that they also made in the Keswick pattern. The pattern is intricate, ornate and gorgeous with flowers and scrolls and crosshatching and gilt trim, it's very romantic and has the naturalistic elements that define the Art Nouveau era. The shape of the pieces is as elegant as the pattern, with scallops on the base of the tureen and platter edges and fancy handles adding more interest to the set. The pieces are in wonderful condition, remarkable for pieces more than a century old. One tiny flea bite to the rim of the tureen and some slight speckles on the lid in two places are the only things I can nitpick. Not only does this set display beautifully, it adds charm to your table mixed in with your own dinnerware. Each piece bears the "Wood & Son" backstamp, in use at the turn of the century according to Mary Frank Gastons" "The Collector's Encyclopedia of Flow Blue China", page 34. These rare table accessories will add the grace of bygone days to your home and table this holiday season.

Measurements in inches, handles not included. Tureen: 13 x 8 1/2 x 3. Platter: 9 x 12. Relish: 5 x 8.
