This is an absolutely beautiful and rare piece of French jewelry from the Victorian era. It is a hand painted on porcelain pendant that is also a locket and can be worn as a brooch. This museum quality piece is Circa 1880. This piece is so unique and outstanding that it is hard to find the right words to describe it. The frame is magnificent and ornate. In the center is a painting on porcelain of a young lady with one breast exposed and a winged cherub at her side in a forest setting. Set around this is a fleur de lis design of scrolls set with pearls. The top of the frame has a garland of gold flowers set with seed pearls and a bow in the center. The bale is also set with seed pearls. This great piece has both rose gold and yellow gold incorporated into the design. It is a pendant that can also be worn as a brooch and the back side is a glass locket with a removable gold frame so a picture can easily be placed inside. The pendant measures 2 1/2" long to the top of the bale by 1 1/4" at the widest part of the floral garland design. This is in mint absolute original condition. It is accompanied with a contemporary 14K chain which is an exceptional 27" in length. This is an heirloom piece of jewelry that is one of a kind and should be handed down from generation to generation.
