This beautiful enameled locket is a lovely example of French artistry from the Victorian Era. It is 14K gold filled and has an enameled oval depicting a winged cherub standing on a shell with a dove on a cobalt field background. The enameled oval is bevel set into an openwork bale and surround with intricate details. The center enameled oval measures 1 1/8th inch by 7/8ths inch and the outside measurement is 2 inches from the top of the bale by 1 1/8th inches. The back has a beautiful beveled glass that is hinged and opens upwards so that a portrait can be included. This exquisite locket is in excellent original condition. Included, however not in the photos is a 14K, 18" yellow gold chain that is included in the price of the locket. It is very difficult to acquire antique enameled lockets of this quality. This is a fine French example of an elegant bygone era.
