This is a very rare vintage acid tested 14K charm. It is in the form of a woven Nantucket basket that is hinged in the frame and moves. The basket has intricate detail with a scrimshaw oval depicting a sailing vessel on the sea. The amazing part about this charm is that the top of the basket is hinged and opens to reveal a real surprise. In side is a very miniature dated 1977 copper Lincoln Liberty penny with the back side stating United States Of America One Cent with a replica of the Lincoln Memorial. This tiny penny is detailed and an amazing accomplishment by the artist. It is removable from the basket and is original but not attached. I believe the premise is that you don't give a purse without a little money in it for good luck. The charm has a large gold bale at the top and could also be worn as a pendant. It measures 1" to the top of the bale and 5/8" at the widest part of the frame. This is artist signed and dated 1977 on the base of the basket. This lovely charm is the most detailed miniature and a credit to the talent of the artist. A beautiful and rare gold charm in excellent original condition.
