This is an outstanding bronze. It is an exceptional antique early 20th Century solid dore bronze of two reclining children. It was executed with great detail and retains a beautiful original patina. It is artist signed by well listed artist Joseph D'Aste. Joseph D'Aste was born in Naples and came to Paris around 1900. He exhibited in the Salon beginning in the year 1905. He produced a number of groups and statuettes of children, especially representing some popular and rural scenes. He became a well listed artist and sculptor and his auction sales have remained strong. The marble base measures 14 ½ inches long by 5 ½ inches deep and the bronze measures 13 inches long by 7 ¼ inches tall and the overall height is 8 ½ inches. It is an absolutely charming antique bronze in excellent original condition and would make a distinctive addition to your collection.
