Loetz Oceanik Circa 1902 Vase - Rare Shape
This is a beautiful example of Loetz. Produced in 1902 this vase is called Oceanik for the obvious reason. It has a rare form which is pinched in at the base and flares out to pinch in again before it culminates at the rim. It has a raised swirled surface that is mottled with an exceptional iridescent appearance that shimmers in aqua and green with hints of blue. The overall effect creates a sensation of waves in the sea. The overall shape of the vase swirling in and out creates a sense of movement. The vase stands 6 ½ inches tall and 5 ¼ inches at the widest part of the body. It is in mint condition with a pin head imperfection which is in the making. This vase has a wonderful visual effect and would make a striking addition to your collection.
