Magnificent Herend Hungary Large Covered Potpourri Urn With Bird Motif

This is an absolutely beautiful piece of signed Herend Hungary hand painted porcelain in the form of a covered urn. It stands 13 3/4 inches tall and 7 1/2 inches at the widest point. The cover has a rococo design to the top and has several hand painted butterflies. It also has a pattern of open work to the cover to which I am attributing as being for the purpose of potpourri. The urn has figural birds for handles and is decorated with hand painted birds, the back scene is different from the front and this also is decorated with hand painted insects with a similar motif on the base. The hand painted detail on the birds and insects are intricate and very well executed by a talented artist. The entire piece is accented in gold leaf. The base is signed Herend Hungary, and is numbered 6489 RO, please refer to photos. This work of art is in absolute mint condition. Fresh from an estate, this highly desirable piece would a fine addition to your collection.
