I recently purchased this exceptional French vase from an elderly lady in Palm Springs, California. She and her husband traveled the world for their business and collected some very fine antiques along the way. She recently lost her husband and is down sizing and liquidating some of her treasures. This is a magnificent art glass vase. The glass has streaks of green, lavender pink and cobalt blue. Throughout the glass are striations which reflect the light at different angles. These are not cracks but a deliberate and integral part of the design by the artisan. The vase is mounted in an ornate and detailed bronze armature depicting the bust of a woman on each side flowing down in a floral garland and culminating in an acanthus leaf footed base. It measures 7 ½ inches tall and 4 inches at the widest part of the armature. This fabulous vase is Circa 1880 and a fine and rare example of the Victorian Era.
