We are offering a wonderful antique parasol or umbrella or walking stick. It was possibly a mourning piece.
This lovely Victorian item has a natural burled wooden handle with knots and a slight curvature. The canopy is black silk with a 4" lace trim. It is lined so the stretchers and ribs cannot be seen. The shaft is turned wood and measures approximately 35-1/2"L from handle end to ferrule (tip). The parasol runner is metal and is used to open up the parasol. This piece is marked "LYOIN MAKER PAT'D" with a logo. There is no date for the patent.
The umbrella is in good condition with some holes and age tears in the silk canopy and the lace has separated from the canopy body in some areas. Still, this is a wonderful and useful accessory and could be professionally restored if desired.
