What a beautiful vintage covered butter dish! It was made by "NORITAKE" in Japan. This piece is beautiful peachy orange and grey luster ware with gold trim around the edge of the plate and the cover. The handle on the top of the cover is two pretty rosebuds, one is blue and yellow and the other is mostly green with a tiny bit of red peeking through. There are three rose leaves painted on the top of the cover as well.
The covered butter set is round and the plate measures approximately 6-1/2" in diameter. The cover measures approximately 5-1/4" in diameter and 1-3/4" in height. The underside of the plate is signed: "HAND PAINTED", "MADE IN JAPAN", and has the Noritake mark with an "M" in center in green. Circa 1911.
This set is in excellent condition, and appears as if it was never used.
