"The Cardiologist" Vienna Bronze Naughty by Carl Kauba

Carl Kauba (1865-1922) is a very famous Austrian bronze artist who often worked with the Bergman foundry. He did a lot of different subjects but is probably most well known for his American Cowboys & Indians, Erotics & Naughtys. We are very pleased to be able to offer this circa 1905 Naughty. Note that the doctor is checking his own heart while his smiling face is pressed to her back. The Cardiologist was made in several sizes. This model stands a total of 6 5/8" tall with a measurement of 4 1/8" long x 2 13/16" wide on the bottom of it's stone base. The actual bronze piece is 4 5/8" tall x 3 5/16" long x 2 1/16" wide. The piece is in all over outstanding condition. The metal has no breaks, chomps, dents or repairs. It's patina is in excellent plus condition, original, with no touch ups. Beautiful coloration & fairly even toned with no rub marks down to base bronze. It does of course have the dark areas from age as is expected on an antique bronze. The bronze is attached to it's original stone base with it's original screw. The side & bottom edges of the base have somewhat rough rims with a few old tiny nicks/chips as expected. I did find a newer chip on the backside at the top rim (see photo # 9). The bronze is listed in Berman's as #1211. A super table or desk top bronze that will fit anywhere in your home or a great gift for your Cardiologist husband or father. There is a page of info on Kauba in Berman's Bronzes (p.759) as well as about 50 examples.
