This square box is part of 5 matching pieces of a circa 1925 travel set. The enamel lid is in excellent minus original condition with no chips or repairs. At the top right in the leaves there is a small 1/8" spot I found with my loop that has some nicks & scratch/cracking. But there is NO missing enamel!! It has a lovely hand painted 2 1/16" sq. scene of remarkable quality. Note the fine detail of windows in the buildings, people on the boat and those stunning leaves! Please excuse the glassy look reflection. I could not get a photo without it. We were astounded to find on this quality enamel work that the metal is silver plated. The lid is a slip on. The metal is intact with no rips, tears, repairs. The plating is in excellent minus condition with some very occasional minor wear on side rims. It looks more like an occasional water spot as the base metal is a white metal (possibly nickel). This is very very minor as the rims are only 2 1/16" long x 1/4" tall. The lid fits very firmly but rides up just a bit- it does stay on when box is shaken. The glass box is mold blown & hand finished on all exterior surfaces which includes beveled edges. It has been decorated on all four sides with 3 vertical lined stripes. The box's glass is clear & clean. The glass has no cracks, chips or repairs. There is of course a few normal 1/64" & smaller flea bites on box from use. I found minor rough edges & two 1/32" nicks on the secondary rim that the lid fits against at the side of the box. The mark of: "Germany Silverplate" is at one side rim of lid. The box is 1 1/2" tall x a 2 1/16" sq. A lovely piece for an enamel enthusiast on a budget.
