Circa 1875 Silver, 14kt, Diamond & Cultured Pearl Pin

It is so great to find this stunning pin still intact after approx 130 years! In the 19th. Century they mounted diamonds in silver as white gold was not invented (for want of a better word) until the 20th Century. The pin's mount is comprised of silver on top of 14kt. yellow gold as is true to pin's period. The pin is also "en tremblant" which means the large flower in the center has movement. The pin contains 98 rose cut diamonds, 2 larger diamonds & 8 cultured pearls. Per Ruby Lane policy a pearl must be called cultured unless there is a professional appraisal to deem them natural. This pin is old enough that all original pearls would be natural, but the value of these 8 small pearls is not high enough to pay a gemologist to check them. All rose cuts appear to be original to pin. The diamond in the center of the flower is a 15 point modern brilliant cut, no more than 70 years old. There is a diamond bud under one side of the flower that is a 10 point stone. We think it is a European cut and original to the pin, but the location makes it hard to view to be sure. The 2 exterior cultured pearls appear to be original & of the 6 cultured pearls in the center of the flower, 1 may be a replacement-I just can't decide. Other then the one diamond and the possible 1 pearl we find no replacements. The pin stick has a slight curve but it was designed this way to flow with the mounting. The pin point is not dulled. The clasp is original with a working safety lock. The pin stick & mount have Jeweler's hallmarks but no gold content mark-we have acid tested for gold content. It is not unusual to find jewelry from this period to have no gold marks. This beautiful pin is in excellent condition & is a real treasure for that woman who loves true antique jewelry! It measures 2 1/4" long x 1 1/4" at widest point.
