Subject: Koi swim in the waters of the conscious and subconscious. Koi are thoughts. They are curious and friendly creatures, and from watching them, they seem to fluctuate to who is the leader, almost like flickering light. There does seem to be those who will constantly swim up when others are swimming down, but somehow those swimming down eventually will follow the one. What is the secret?

These paintings were inspired by photographs and observation from the Kula Botanical Farm in Kula, Maui, Hawaii.
