Antique Currier & Ives Sporting Print - Steeple Chase Cracks, Monkeys & Dogs

This is entitled: Steeple Chase Cracks, and features Jockey monkeys riding dogs in a race. I feel this is an English sporting print however some people have told me it is Black Americana, a commentary on the times in which it was made. There is little information on the web concerning this subject, so I leave it to you to decide.

Steeple Chase Cracks is small folio, the printed area (not including the title) measuring 8" X 12 1/2". The entire framed work measures 14 1/2" X 18 3/4".

This print is framed and has been for decades. The paper has a lot of foxing and age staining. The printing matrix was stone lithography. No tears.
