J. Billman Artist Proof 2/88 Sea Shells Embossed Print Nursery / Child's Room

Offering a wonderful, embossed and hand painted art print from artist Jane Billman. This is the artist's proof and is signed.

This is fine art for the nursery or child's room.

This piece is called; Special Shell Sampler, and the title is hand written in pencil in the LL corner followed by AP. On the LR corner the artist has pencil signed her name and the date 2/88.

The art work is professionally framed and matted and measures 18" X 21". No damage.

The print is on light cream colored paper but in some photos I darkened it a bit to combat the glass glare, which with the flash, hid the relief contours of the embossing.

The print is on quality, hand made paper produced in a small mill in Europe. The artist begins with her original drawing which she then engraves on a prepared wood block, using hand gravers and assorted hand carving tools. This can take between 40-300 hours. Next, she embosses the paper over the wood engraving with an antique flatbed press. After embossing, she hand paints the image with watercolor, acrylic or oil based paints made of pigments that she personally mixes.

I am offering up three pieces of her work for children, collected by my late aunt, and they are absolutely lovely.

This is a companion piece to another Billman I have listed called; "Ice Cream Cones".
