Offering a marvelous 1920's embroidered silk hanky from Coblenz, Germany.
I imagine this was a souvenir from World War One.
This hanky measures 17 1/2" square, and features a lace border that is 3" deep along the edges and 6" deep at each corner. The lace has been attached by hand to a square of silk.
The center square is an almost transparent piece of silk which has been hand embroidered with the words, Andenken Von Coblenz - A remembrance of Coblenz. The square is further embroidered around the edges with roses and garlands.
There is light wear but no rips or tears. There is a very light pinkish mark on the silk which may have come from the embroidery thread.
I pulled this from my aunt's storage trunk as is, and have not had it dry cleaned.
