American Jacquard Coverlet Coral and Cream Double Dated 1829 – 1856
I have shown this coverlet spread out on a king sized bed. As you can see it is large enough to use not just show. The complex pattern features a center medallion with a somewhat geometric outside border. The interior is done with a large harp and many shapes of flowers and vines. This really is a gorgeous pattern, one of the prettiest I have ever owned. There is no weaving of the maker's name, however it is dated in each corner, twice it says 1829, twice 1856. The color in the first picture is very accurate to the actual color. It is a really lovely color.Known as a Summer- Winter coverlet because of its ability to be used on each side. The darker side I would presume to be for winters use and the "lighter" cream color in summer. Imagine a piece of fabric that began its life 183 years ago and can still be used in your home today. Amazing to me.
DIMENSIONS: 92" long x 89.5" wide
CONDITION: There is a hole that is part of the center medallion of the coverlet. (not dead center) If you are handy or know someone this could be darned and made nearly invisible. Much of the original thread is there to work with, please note this in the 2 pictures of that area. That said, it is clean and ready to use.
