English Chinaman Majolica Teapot Circa 1870
Majolica 'Chinaman' teapot and cover. This is the same mold that Minton used for this pot. As you can see in the picture of the bottom, it is marked but using Goddens and several other references I can't positivly identify it as Minton. They did do their pot in several color combinations so "who knows?" The body of the pot is molded as a Japanese dwarf dressed in a cobalt robe, holding a Noh mask. Good bright colorful glaze decoration all round, pink interior. The back of his "head" and the braided handle are done in a mottled sponged glaze. The pot has a painted mark to the base. I guarantee it to be vintage circa 1870's/80's. This is a very difficult piece to find, this is your chance to own a terrific piece of majolica.
PLEASE NOTE: Item will be double boxed for shipping and I will adjust the rate and ins to cover the cost.
CONDITION: The tip of the spout is rough. The finial is chipped. There is a very old spider style hairline on the rim of the cover. I have photographed all of these areas for you.
