English Holdcroft Majolica Shell Bowl circa 1880's
I have collected majolica for 30 years and have always enjoyed this shape bowl from Holdcroft. The shell is a turquoise blue exterior with a gray with a lavender pink interior. The bowl sits on 3 small chocolate brown shells. Interestingly, Holdcroft made several shapes and forms of this seashell bowl. What stunning dining tables or Victorian ancestors must have had! documented support or confirmation of maker's mark: " The collectors Encyclopedia of Majolica" authored by Marianne Katz Marks - Page 20
CONDITION: Overall, very good condition. The interior is stained, there are a few minor old chips. Very much in keeping with age and use.
DIMENSIONS: 9 1/2" LONG front to back x 8 ¾" at it's very widest x 4 3/8" tall
Item ID: B251
