1870's Deep Walnut Mirrored Frames with Sponge Decoration
This pair of all original high Victorian era, deep Walnut Framed mirrors are just spectacular. A real decorators delight! Done in 3 layers with 2 different sponged decorations. The outer top level is done with a cream color and has been sponge decorated with gray and a rusty red. The middle portion is a sponged walnut color. This layer is decorated with a central spoon carving decorated in white. The inner level is golden tone in a stripped pattern. The original wood backing has been covered with a tan paper. This is an exceptional pair of framed mirrors that would grace any interior. I know it looks like they are not mirrors... but I HAD to cover the mirror to take photos. I took 50 pictures then said phooey! cover them. The mirror is in good condition and very reflective. The photo with the shaker is taken without the paper. Deep walnut frames are much more common here in New Hampshire than other parts of the country. This is one of the only matched pair with sponge decoration frames I have found in a good long time. They just are not out there to be had. Here is your chance to own a magnificent matched pair with sponge decoration.
CONDITION: There are a few nibbles of the painted areas, slight spacing on several corners... slight... They show very well and with a proper cleaning and polishing they would be darned near perfect!
DIMENSIONS: 15 ½" x 13 ½" total outside frame mirror measures 9 ½ x 7 ½"
Item ID: B235
