One of my personal favorite categories of early photography is wedding couples. We are reminded by the looks on some of the faces that these men and women may have just met at the train or Stage express office then went straight to the photographers studio to meet the "Preacher" and have their keepsake photo taken. Then out to the ranch or farm and on with the day. The blank stares and down right terror in some of their faces. They may barely remember each others names and here they are "starting a new life together"!! Some of the photos I have had in the past show clearly that the man was wearing someone else's suit. Very short sleeves on the suit jacket and pants that he can barely squeeze into! The boots they wore were often their only shoes and generally speaking were dirty and in need of a good brushing. These are charming and to me endearing remembrances of American days gone by. The great American move west... I have listed 7 of these wedding day cards today...
