This is a fantastic depiction of an old world Belsnickle Santa. He is wearing a bi - colored suit. The top area is ochre the bottom is golden yellow. His hat which is fur trimmed is blue. The suit is tied at the waist by a rope. He is leaning on a cane as he stops to speak to a young boy dressed in an Edwardian blue and white sailors suit. The boy has his hands clasped in a prayer like formation. Maybe he really!! wants to plead his case for being good! Santa has freshly a cut tree tied to his sack. The card is nicely embossed. This is really a dear card one of my all time favorites. This card is # 47 in my group. The following is information I read about Santa's from Juelie McLeans website.
"The role of the evergreen in midwinter celebrations dates back to pre-Christian times when the tree symbolized nature's triumph over winters darkness and deathly cold. "
