Antique Arts and Crafts Moonstone Sterling Silver Ring

An especially desirable cluster of old moonstones distinguishes this marvelous Arts & Crafts ring. The most coveted moonstone jewelry is set with moonstones which display the blue adularescence, the optical phenomenon of light from within the stone that rotates as the stone moves, like `moon light.' When the stone's light is a distinctive sky blue, this is the special characteristic which has the most valuable appeal.

Seven heavenly oval moonstones, each bezel set, are arranged in a cluster with a gentle dome shape so that when the light hits this ring from any angle, one is treated with the beautiful blue lights moving from within the stones.

Needing very little embellishment, the moonstones are appointed with simple, polished silver bead `dots' which surround the center stone and appear between the others. A simple textured detail is placed on each side in a V which is formed from the under mount.

The simple but unmistakably Arts & Crafts design and nature of this ring further distinguishes it and adds to its overall appeal. It is quite easy to imagine a woman between 1900 and 1915 wearing this ring of the period, appreciating what, at that time, was a modern design and what she couldn't know would become a highly important historical period of art and design.

The ring size is 9 ¼ and the ring weighs 9 grams.
