One of the most powerful and well known symbols in Western tradition is the rose, used in countless metaphors and poetry, graphics and greeting cards, paintings and objects, to refer to love and romance. Roses were strewn about Aphrodite's temples and holidays such as Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, birthdays and anniversaries would not be the same without the rose.
Recently, a friend who specializes in iron work made an iron rose for my birthday, a perfect combination of his art and his affection for me. This symbol comes in every known material, size and combinations.
Jewelry lines and collections are full of designs that either incorporate or feature `the rose.' This special example is a truly lovely depiction of this flower and is especially pretty because it is adorned with beautiful, old European- cut diamonds which are displaying their maximum dispersion and brilliance, so specific to the old cut diamonds. Even in natural day light, these diamonds sparkle and when worn in evening, incandescent light, one is treated to a fiery and beautiful glittering and twinkling.
Both the rose petals and leaves are beautifully fashioned with clever piercing on the petals, which gives them texture and character, and fine open work depicting the veins on the leaves.
This gorgeous Retro brooch blossoms in 14k yellow gold, with approximately 1.5 carat total weight in old European-cut diamond accents. The *approximate overall color of these stones range from HIJK and clarity, VS-I. This exceptional piece measures 2 1/8 inches by 1 3/4 inches and weighs 14.5 grams and the condition is excellent. Unlike real flowers, this romantic rose will bloom forever as an eternal symbol of love and affection.
*approximation is due to the fact that the stones are mounted and exact weights and qualities can not be determined.
