Antique Enamel in a French Bronze Frame

This bronze frame is styled in the familiar French motif of garlands and bows, forms which graced everything from furniture and mirrors to clocks and mantle pieces and enjoyed a place during the Edwardian and Art Nouveau periods. The combination of these features is a feminine and romantic expression of these two time periods. As a frame, it could feature any picture at all but the original piece is an enamel painting on copper of a bouquet of flowers painted in vivid colors and reminiscent of the lady's garden or the bouquet, which might be placed on a salon table or perhaps in her boudoir. It is a signed piece, although the name is difficult to read, beginning with the letters CAT. The crazing noticeable on the plaque is the result of time and age, giving it the real character of a true antique. The frame measures 7 3/4" tall by 3 3/16" wide at the widest point.

Positioned alone in just the right spot or in the company of other small, interesting and pretty decorative art pieces, this treasure will easily enhance the surrounds in which it is placed. It is a lovely French accent and collector's prize.
