Antique English Plush Work & Bead Work Needlework Tapestry
This is the Rolls Royce of the Victorian needlepoint world. This is a stunning wool work embroidery which is hand worked in cross stitch or gros point. It has areas of raised work or plush work. We see red, purple and cream roses and rose buds. It also has bead work accents of cream, white and clear glass beads. It is housed in a gilt oval frame. It is then recessed within a plush red velvet support mount. All housed behind glass in its original ebonised outer frame. Dating to the 1860-70 period and originating from England. Measuring 14.25" by 12.5" by 1.5".
Condition is good but not perfect. Apart from minor surface wear to the outer ebonised frame and a little dust trapped behind the glass. the plush velvet has a few little bare patches where it has disintegrated with age. But very minor really.
