Superb German Papier Mâché Doll - BEEHIVE Coiffure - ALL Original!

Here for your buying pleasure is a SUPERB and ENCHANTING, ALL-ORIGINAL 15 1/2-inch GERMAN PAPIER-MACHÉ with a BEEHIVE COIFFURE with ROLLED SIDE-CURLS! Circa 1830's.

This WONDERFUL EARLY Papier Mâché shoulder head doll was purchased from Mrs. Vrooman, of Grosse Pointe, Michigan in 1947. She purchased the doll from her dry-cleaning delivery person who said that it belonged to his Great Grandmother who had bought it from Ireland to America. She has remained in the SAME COLLECTION until now! She was the FIRST PRIZE WINNER in the Papier Mâché Class at the Exhibit of the NEW LONDON CONVENTION of the FIRST CONVENTION of the UNITED FEDERATION OF DOLL CLUBS IN 1950! Her ribbon is still attached to her underclothing. This FIRST UFDC CONVENTION was held in New London, Connecticut at the Hotel Mohican on September 15, 16, 17 of 1950!

This German doll has an UN-RETOUCHED shoulder head with ORIGINAL VARNISH, BEAUTIFUL BLUE eyes, BLACK eyebrows, lightly BLUSHED cheeks, and a pertly painted little mouth. She has the BEEHIVE COIFFURE with ROLLED SIDE CURLS of the 1830 period. Her shoulder head is in REMARKABLE PRESERVED ORIGINAL CONDITION, with just a smidgen of a rub to her nose, and a few tiny spots of wear to her hair and face area.

She is found on her ORIGINAL HEAVY MUSLIN BODY which is quite a-typical for these types of shoulder heads. Most of the time these types of heads are found on Milliner Model type bodies - but this body appears to DEFINITELY BE ORIGINAL TO THIS DOLL! She has no hands but only long, thin muslin arms covered in olive green silk, which retain her ORIGINAL ACCESSORIES of a FEATHER FAN and a SILK RETICULE BAG (melting) sewn to her waist.

Her ENTIRELY ORIGINAL CLOTHING is FANTASTIC considering it is from her origin of the ROMANTIQUE PERIOD! It consists of a BEAUTIFUL OLIVE GREEN SILK GOWN with LACE trimming and SILK bow accents. It is in QUITE WONDERFUL CONDITION, only having a few areas of melting present here and there. She wears her ORIGINAL NET BONNET - once pink - with plumes and tiny pink flowers in the side puffs. She also has a LOVELY SILK BOW TIE at her neck. Her underclothing consists of a two original slips - one made of HEAVY MUSLIN and the other of POLISHED COTTON. Her little ankle high beige POLISHED COTTON SLIPPERS are sewn to her feet. She wears little FLORAL NET LEGLETS, from the knees down, with a LIGHT GREEN SILK BOW tied to one of her ankles. Her entire clothing, bonnet and leglets are all handsewn. SHE MAKES FOR A VERY PERFECT AND COMPLETE FASHION PICTURE OF THE DAY!

This EARLY and ALL ORIGINAL BEEHIVE COIFFURE GERMAN PAPIER MACHE dolls are SELDOM FOUND in this WONDERFUL and RARE ORIGINAL CONDITION! Don't miss her as she would be a TREMENDOUS ADDITION to any early doll collection!
