Beautiful 18th century faience tin enameled box usually only seen in museums.
This oval domed box is 4 1/4" long x 3" deep and 2 1/2" high.It is hand painted with floral sprays, loose bouquets and butterflies. The cover has a scene of a courting couple strolling the French countryside. The scene is framed with a red and white border. The artist Veuve Perrin decorated faience pottery in Marseilles,France between 1748-1795.The paper was in the box when I got it many years ago.
Hard to believe this box is over 200 years old and in this condition. No cracks, chips or repairs.Only some scratches to the bottom. It's marked VP under the glaze.
Would be a wonderful heirloom gift for a bride.
