This beautiful 1940's military sweetheart mother of pearl and gold filled locket has a wonderfully detailed twisted ribbon shaped frame. The center is a luminous, bezel set oval shaped mop with a nicely detailed US military Army Eagle insignia, also the Great Seal of the US. This vintage pendant is a hidden back snap closed locket. Such a charming find for Army/military/armed forces collectors. It is from the Providence Stock Company, who made many such military homefront or sweetheart jewelry items, in business from 1890 to at least the 1950's. It is marked Pr. St. Co., 1/20-12KT on sterling on the back at the bottom of the locket door ,a bit hard to see in the swirling incised design of the door. It is from the Providence Stock Company, in business from 1890 to at least the 1950's in Providence, Rhode Island. Their military homefront jewelry items made during the second World War are very collectible. The locket is 1 1/8 inches tall, and one inch across. The bale adds another ¼ of an inch. The mother of pearl is very luminous and reflects soft pastels when the light strikes. It retains one oval shaped frame and celluloid film that holds in a photo, ready for a picture if desired. This marvel is in overall very good condition and has a hint of vintage, age appropriate patina, yet is still shiny and bright. It is suspended from a sturdy, 1/8 of an inch thick double overloop style chain. The lovely 17 and 1/2 inch long gold filled chain is well made, marked 1/20 12 K and a company mark that looks like a T in a circle on the connector next to the spring ring clasp. These marvelous lockets were usually given by someone in the armed forces to loved ones for remembrance and are very collectible. Just as beautiful and marvelously sentimental today as all those years ago! A romantic, hard to find memento of times gone by. I am always happy to answer questions and combine shipping.
