Wow! This brilliant, large and quite substantial marvelous rose pink AB Coro brooch in a floral design shimmers in varying shades of pink, with subtle hints of peach/lime green/violet/teal blue and red tones, depending on how the light strikes. A gorgeous aurora borealis rhinestone flower, the stones are set in a flawless, glossy and thick silver tone metal. The dimensional flower has 5 gracefully shaped swirled petals studded with the glimmering, faceted rhinestones, and the curled and texturized leaves and smooth, shiny stem show fine craftsmanship, signed Coro on a rectangular cartouche on the back, and a c copyright symbol. This beauty is 2 and 3/8 inches tall and 1 and ½ inches wide. It weighs .7 of an ounce, or 20 grams, hefty and sturdy for its size. The pin and clasp work properly, is in pristine condition, and is truly an enticing collectible!
Emanuel Cohn and Gerard Rosenberg opened a small shop in New York selling jewelry and personal accessories in 1901. The company later became known as "Coro" incorporating the first two letters of each partner's name. By the mid 1920's, the Coro company was the largest manufacturer of costume jewelry, very sought after today.
